Learn the Basics: 6 Steps to Easily Apply Eye Makeup in 10 Minutes or Less

Step 1, CONCEAL

The first thing you need to do is make sure your eyes look healthy. Meaning no dark circles around the eyes, no dark patches or sagginess under the lids. The best way to do this is with a concealer. Apply 3 dots starting from the inner eye going out. And remember, the keyword here is “pat”. I would suggest using your pinkie finger, as this would apply the least amount of pressure. Keep applying the concealer until the blemishes disappear.

Step 2, CREATE THE SHADOW

The basic rule of thumb here is to start from light to dark. Basically you start off with the lightest tone that almost matches your skin color then work your way to the darkest one, creating that gorgeous eye-popping effect. The lightest tone is what you usually call an eye base. It actually serves two purposes: One, as its name implies, it provides the “base” for your eyeshadow and complements the darker shades and it keeps the shadow in place for a much longer period and keeps it from looking greasy. You can use a brush to lightly apply the eye base to the entire eye up to the brow.

Apply the light color all over the eyes. Then comes in the medium tone but only on the lids. Then top it off with the dark shade in the crease. Blend them all together for a gorgeous look! BLENDING IS IMPORTANT AND ONE FAILURE MANY WOMEN MAKE. WE DON'T WANT PROMINENT LINES UNLESS YOU ARE SPECIFICALLY GOING FOR THAT LOOK! Blend, Blend, Blend, my sweet - and then BLEND SOME MORE!

Step 3, HIGHLIGHT

Most makeup artists, including those at WBMK COSMETICS use this trick to bring a more dramatic effect. This only involves the inner part of the eye. Use the lightest eye shadow you have and apply it on the inner corner of your eye, just where the upper meets your lower lid.

Step 4, THE BROW

You can use the same light eyeshadow and dab it on your browbone, but only start at the middle of the eye going outward. Use your finger to blend it smoothly.

Step 5, DIVA LASHES (Go Girl!)

Not all of us are born with super-long, super-gorgeous eyelashes so most of us make do of what we have. And that’s when an eyelash curler becomes a girl’s best friend. For a much more dramatic effect, you can heat the curler first with a blow-dryer for a few seconds. But don’t go curling just yet, make sure to test it first if you don’t want to get a “singed” look.

Step 6, MASCARA

Now that you have nice curly lashes, you might wanna finish it off with a dab of Mascara.

Anybody ever stop to explain how best to apply it? Well, that's why you wanna hang with us, right?

Place the brush at the base of your lashes and sort of wiggle it back and forth, pulling up at the same time. Follow with another few sweeps until you get that full luscious look you desire.,

Don’t sweat it if it's your first time - it isn’t easy the first time. Knock yourself out and practice a few times before that big date, and I’m sure you can pull off a head turning look that will simply make people’s eyes’ go POP!
